Mental Health Services
The Christ Hospital offers one of Ohio’s most well known psychiatric programs. Built on many years of expertise in mental health and geriatrics, the inpatient program includes an adult unit and a separate senior adult unit, which provides specialized care to psychiatric patients over 60. The inpatient and outpatient mental health programs are located at The Christ Hospital on three south. The outpatient mental health programs treats adults with depression, anxiety and other emotional problems.

Gwen McFarlin - is the director of clinical mental health at The Christ Hospital. She is certified as a clinical nurse specialist and certified by ANCC in Nursing Administration, she is also a CCDC-III. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Oxford University and her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Cincinnati. Currently she is responsible for inpatient and outpatient behavioral and addiction services at The Christ Hospital, where she also coordinates behavioral community support groups. She has planned and implemented health care delivery services regionally for more than 25 years

Dennis LeGendre, LISW, LICDC, NCAC II - is the manager of The Christ Hospital Outpatient Alcohol and Drug Services. He is an expert in chemical dependency counseling and treatment services with a variety of populations including adolescent, adult, geriatric and dual diagnosis. He has also done consulting and public speaking on substance abuse topics. Dennis has worked at Health Alliance hospitals for 17 years and has over 25 years of clinical experience in chemical dependency counseling. He earned his bachelor of science from University of Cincinnati and his master of social work at The University of Kentucky. He is a licensed independent social worker and licensed independent chemical dependency counselor in Ohio. Also, he is a licensed clinical social worker in Indiana and a national certified addiction counselor II with the Association For Addiction Professional. He has experience in family, couples and individual counseling involving addictions. The Health Alliance’s Behavioral Health Service Line selected Dennis as the 2005 behavioral health Caregiver of the Year.
