Workshops & Programs
The Center provides community programs and workshops to promote understanding of common health conditions, and help participants learn how to prevent certain health conditions and to maintain a quality life while living with disease. The Center focuses on six health conditions: cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, infant mortality, obesity, immunization and HIV/AIDS. Speakers are available to talk about health disparities to your organization or company.
Once a year, The Center hosts a major conference to address health disparities. The Conference On Closing The Health Gap is the only conference of its kind and attracts a diverse gathering of medical professionals, community organizations, policymakers and consumers. The one-day event provides the latest information about health disparities and major health issues confronting the region and offers techniques to address these problems. The conference features prominent national and local speakers as well as variety of outstanding workshops. For a specific recap of the 2004 conference, click here.
