How to Dress for Your Interview
Even though most businesses have adopted a casual dress code, you still want to impress a prospective employer on your first interview. After all, that important first impression—how you look and what you wear—can help make that crucial first impression. Most experts agree that you should dress conservatively; most often, you should wear a suit. Here are some tips on what to avoid and what you should wear on an interview.

Suits: You shouldn’t wear a suit with lapels that are too wide (more than three inches) or too narrow (less than one inch). For men, a full-body, loose suit is more appropriate than a fitted one. Women’s skirts should not be more than three inches above the knee.

Accessories: Purses, shoes, and other accessories should be conservative. At the most, wear two rings on each hand and one earring in each ear. You should not wear face jewelry or ankle bracelets.

Makeup: You shouldn’t wear wild nail polish or cosmetics for your interview. To make the most of your first impression, you should be groomed and neat.

Shoes: Wear conservative pumps or dress shoes.

Colors: Try wearing a conservative shade of blue or gray. If you wear black, coordinate it with another color so your look will not be too serious.
Whatever you wear, your interviewer should get the impression that you are a successful professional who’s ready to get to work at a new job.
