Dependent Care Account--Estimating Your Expenses
The following chart can help you estimate your eligible dependent care expenses for the current year
:
Estimated Out-of-pocket Child/Dependent Care Expenses
1
Nursery school
Licensed day care center
Work-related, regular baby-sitting (in or out of your home)
KidKare or Wee Care
Day care centers for the care of disabled dependents while you're working (the center must follow state and local laws)
Elder care (for a physically or mentally disabled dependent who resides in your home at least 8 hours a day)
Social Security and unemployment taxes and related state taxes that you must pay for someone who cares for your dependents while you're working
Other related eligible expenses
1Estimate your contribution carefully. You cannot change the amount you contribute during the year (unless you have a relevant change in family status). Also, the IRS has a "USE IT OR LOSE IT" feature, which means that if your contributions to the Account during the year are more than your incurred eligible expenses for that year, the excess contributions are forfeited.
