The Jewish Hospital Weight Management Center
(Located at The Jewish Hospital Evendale Medical Clinic)
The Jewish Hospital Weight Management Center has been treating obesity since 1989. Obesity is one of the most critical health problems we face today. It is a chronic medical condition that affects millions of Americans, and the problem is growing worse each year. It causes or contributes to the development of an array of life-threatening diseases, including hypertension, heart disease and type II diabetes.

Why are so many people burdened by the problem of obesity? Why can't these individuals simply eat less and lose weight? Unfortunately, the solution to the problem isn't that easy, because the root causes of obesity are a complex interaction of genetic, social, cultural and emotional factors. Unless all facets of the problem are addressed, it is nearly impossible for the most obese people to achieve sustained weight loss.

Most of our patients have tried seven to ten other diets unsuccessfully before coming to us. We understand trying one more can be frustrating, but our treatment focuses on making lifestyle changes that establish a way of life that promotes weight management. Many changes in exercise and activity levels, food choices and eating behaviors--the building blocks of weight management--require a complete change in direction, a U-turn.

Our services at The Jewish Hospital focus on helping you make lifestyle changes that establish a way of life that promotes weight management. Our team of internal medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurses, dietitians, behavioral counselors and exercise specialists educates and encourages you to make changes in exercise and activity levels, food choices and eating behaviors.

As successful weight maintainers will tell you, each change must be gradually and permanently integrated into a person's lifestyle for weight management.
