Wellness And Early Diagnosis

The Health Alliance provides numerous cancer screenings and educational programs for the Cincinnati community.

  • Each September, over 1,000 men are screened for early detection of prostate cancer through the generous support of Health Alliance physicians, nurses and laboratory technicians. Tri-state residents receive the screening for a minimal cost; test results are provided to the patient and family physician.
  • Mammography services are provided at 13 regional sites and 3 mobile units. The Alliance Women’s Health Mobile Mammography Program is a community outreach program providing free screenings for women with low income. In addition, the Ohio Department of Health funds a breast and cervical cancer screening program through the Health Alliance to reach those who cannot afford these important exams.

Each year the Health Alliance presents educational programs for the public as well as conferences for health care professionals.

The next public symposium, Healthy Lungs, will be offered in April at no cost to participants. Those who attend will learn about the impact the environment may have on the lungs, how to protect children from second-hand smoke, how smoking affects pregnancy, and the latest technology for the treatment of lung cancer.

A symposium for health care professionals will be offered this fall on Advances in Head and Neck Cancer. This conference is recommended for physicians, nurses and other health care providers.

All of the Alliance hospitals offer a cancer information center that provides information about prevention, diagnosis, treatment, support, technology and clinical trials. Information is just a phone call away. Call 1-888-640-CARE.
