Here we go again, dragging out the same old resolutions for the new year. Im going to exercise more and go on a diet to lose some of this weight, etc. Guess what, it hasnt worked other years and it probably wont this year! Why not make a few permanent changes, things you can do (or not do)
from now on? For instance,
These seem like insignificant changes, but over time, they can make a difference. You didnt gain the weight in two weeks; why try to lose it in that time! One of the Golden Rules for weight control is to eat a variety of foods in moderation. In other words, instead of eliminating categories of food--desserts for instance--eat smaller portions. Another good idea is to eat fresh foods (unprocessed) prepared simply (without sauces). Try eating five servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Theyre good for you, filling, and low in calories. These are lifestyle changes, not a diet--because diets dont work! For a new low-fat recipe to add to your menu, check out Lite Bites in the Whats New
portion of this web site. And while youre at it, see if theres a class or
support group of interest to you in Classes &
Events.
