The University Hospital Hosts First Liver Transplant Symposium
at the Cincinnati Zoo
Cincinnati--The University Hospital is hosting its first liver transplant symposium, "Zoo Escape" on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 9 -11 a.m. at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens, 3400 Vine St. Liver transplant patients will learn tips for caring for their liver from local liver transplant experts from The University Hospital liver transplant program.
The event will feature the following discussions:
9 ? 9:30 a.m. Herbal Supplements Do's and Don'ts
Guy Neff, M.D., medical director, liver transplant program, The University Hospital
9:30 - 10 a.m. Where is the Liver Transplant Program Headed?
Steven Rudich, M.D., Ph.D., surgical director, liver transplant services, The University Hospital
10- 10:30 a.m. Medication Practices
Jill Martin, Pharm.D., director of transplant outcomes, University of Cincinnati
10:30-11 am. Open Panel discussion between patients and liver transplant experts
11 a.m.- noon "Wildlife Comes to You" presentation by the Cincinnati Zoo
The liver transplant program at The University Hospital began in 1986 and to date has performed more than 500 liver transplants, including 47 livers this calendar year. The program offers some of the shortest wait times for liver transplant in the country, with some of the best survival results.
