The University Hospital Names Paul Volek As Administrative Director of Transplant Services

Cincinnati - The University Hospital has appointed Paul Volek as administrative director of transplant services. In his new role, Volek is responsible for the overall business management of solid organ transplant services, including program design and implementation, financial and human resource management, marketing, public relations, strategic planning and involvement in managed care contracting. Volek has extensive experience in organ transplant and procurement services. Most recently, he served as the director of donor services for National Disease Research Interchange, an organization funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), responsible for providing human biomaterials for research studies. Volek has also been the program administrator for the transplant center at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee, WI, while also serving as executive director of the Wisconsin Donor Network, the organ procurement agency for eastern Wisconsin. Additionally, Volek worked as an administrator at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke?s Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Volek has served in the Peace Corps in Korea and was also a biology teacher and college professor at various schools and universities. He is published in a variety of research studies, transplantation articles and abstracts. Volek has a bachelor of science degree in education from Chicago State College and a master of public health degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
