Drake Center to Host Free Cardiopulmonary Health Fair: "Give Your Heart & Lungs a Valentine"

Contact :Guy Karrick (513) 948-2528

(Cincinnati, OH)-Drake Center's Cardiopulmonary department will host a free Community Grand Rounds: Give Your Heart & Lungs a Valentine on February 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is free to the community and is being held in conjunction with National Cardiac Rehab Week and American Heart Month.

According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease is the leading killer of both men and women in America. Yet most Americans do not know the signs or symptoms of this disabling condition. In 2005, 1.2 million Americans discovered their heart problems when they had heart attacks, and 502,000 of them died.

Health Fair highlights will include:

  • Free health screenings-blood pressure, height & weight, body-fat analysis, pulmonary function testing, pulse oximetry, blood sugar, and more
  • Counseling on cardiovascular disease risk factors
  • Education on signs & symptoms of heart attacks, peripheral arterial disease (PAD), and strokes
  • Refreshments, door prizes and tours

Participants may choose one of two breakout sessions: "10 Ways to a Healthier Heart," or "10 ways to Healthier Lungs." Registration is required. For more information, contact 948-2607.
