West Chester Medical Center names Medical Director of Cardiac Cath Lab

West Chester -- Massoud Leesar, MD, has been named medical director of cardiac cath lab at West Chester Medical Center.

"I look forward to the work we'll do at West Chester Medical Center to help identify and treat patients with heart disease," says Dr. Leesar. "What's exciting about WCMC is our holistic approach to healing the whole person and caring about their entire experience, from the minute they enter the hospital and even after they've gone home."

Dr. Leesar currently serves as the director of cardiac and vascular invasive services, as well as associate chief of cardiology and professor of medicine at the University of Cincinnati. He was previously professor of medicine and the director of the cath lab at the University of Louisville.

He earned his medical degree at Mashad University, Iran, and completed internal medicine residencies at the University of Toronto and Yale University. He then completed fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at Wayne State University, Detroit, and the University of Louisville.

Dr. Leesar is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Cardiology, and the American Board of Interventional Cardiology. He is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and is a member of the American Heart Association and the American Medical Association. He is the member of the editorial board of the journal Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions. Dr. Leesar is an invited faculty member and a member of scientific committee of the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics conference and the American College of Cardiology.  He is an active lecturer and has published numerous research papers in medical journals.

West Chester Medical Center is a new 160-bed hospital being built in West Chester, Ohio, and opening in May 2009. It will provide the latest technology delivered in a healing environment.
