Cincinnati - Thomas L. Kyllo has been appointed administrative director of the Barrett Cancer Center at The University Hospital. In this role, Kyllo is responsible for the daily operations, administrative oversight, fiscal management and strategic planning of services provided at the Barrett Center.

"We look forward to working closely with Tom because by teaming the cancer-care professionals at University Hospital with the medical staff of UC Physicians and the researchers at the University of Cincinnati, we are confident that we can develop an NCI (National Cancer Institute)-designated cancer center," said David Stern, M.D., dean of the UC College of Medicine. "Together we can achieve this goal to ensure outstanding cancer care for the residents of our region."

Most recently, Kyllo served as the executive vice president of Vail Valley Medical Center in Vail, Colo., with responsibility for its cancer center, emergency and ambulatory care centers, occupational medicine, human resources, medical staff affairs, and information systems and technology.

Kyllo has also served as the corporate vice president and chief administrative officer of the Crozer Keystone Health System in Philadelphia, Pa., which includes four hospitals and a system-owned primary care physician network. He also served as the senior vice president of network development at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, the administrator of professional services at The Ohio State Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, and the assistant director of The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

Kyllo holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., and a master's degree in health administration from The Ohio State University.

The University Hospital is part of the Health Alliance, an integrated health care delivery system that also includes The Christ Hospital, The St. Luke Hospitals, The Jewish Hospital, The Fort Hamilton Hospital, Drake Center, West Chester Medical Center and the physicians of Alliance Primary Care.
