Newport, Ky.- The Southgate House in Newport, Kentucky, 24 East 3rd St., will host the 2004 Night of Fright Halloween Benefit, Oct. 16, 8 p.m. - close. An annual event, Night of Fright was created in 1999 to benefit patients receiving treatment at The Jewish Hospital Blood and Marrow Transplant Program. The program provides patients with leukemia, multiple myeloma, lymphoma and other diseases, the lifesaving treatments they need.
Night of Fright events include auctions, a costume contest and a $1,000 raffle. Two bands will be performing at this year's event including the popular cover band Fuzzy Feet. Also performing will be the 5 FUs, a group of cancer doctors who double as musicians and play at numerous charity functions. Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance for $20 from www.nightofright.com, or for $25 at the door. For more information, call 859-426-5838.
One hundred percent of the Night of Fright's proceeds go directly toward helping patients. Event planners hope to use the money raised from this year's event to renovate the patient waiting area. Due to infection risks, children under the age of 14 cannot be allowed into the transplant unit. The renovated waiting area will include a video system to allow these children to see and speak to their loved ones in the unit.
The Jewish Hospital is part of the Health Alliance, an integrated health care delivery system that also includes The Christ Hospital, The University Hospital, The St. Luke Hospitals, The Fort Hamilton Hospital and the physicians of Alliance Primary Care.
