Cincinnati - Wiffle ball enthusiasts are invited to participate in this year's 11th annual Al Weiherer Wiffle Ball Tournament to benefit The Christ Hospital Cancer Center. This special event, sponsored through the Al Weiherer Foundation, will be held on Saturday, May 27, from 8 a.m. until dusk at Coney Island. Members of the media are invited to attend. Photo opportunities and interviews with hospital staff will be available.
There is a $30 park fee for adults and $25 for kids, which includes admission to Sunlight Pool, drinks, snacks and other amusement admissions. Over the past 10 years of the tournament's history, more than $90,000 has been raised for The Christ Hospital Cancer Center.
Al Weiherer lost his battle with cancer 10 years ago. His son, Dave Weiherer, started the Al Weiherer Foundation in his father's memory. Last year the money raised at the tournament was used to fund the Wellness Collaboration of Tai Chi, Cancer Connections and Caregiver support groups, audio visual equipment for the cancer resource center and NCI software.
