University Air Care will kick off its 20th anniversary celebration by hosting its Memorial Golf Tournament Aug. 31 at Shaker Run Golf Course, Lebanon, Ohio. Tee time is at 1 p.m., and one of the Air Care helicopters is scheduled to land at noon. Proceeds of the outing benefit the Air Care education fund, which helps offset costs for staff to further their education.
The only hospital-based air medical transport service based in Greater Cincinnati, University Air Care was started by The University Hospital in November 1984. Since then, this critical care service has completed more than 22,000 patient care flights, and it now has a remote base at University Pointe in West Chester to better serve the Butler and Warren county communities.
The Memorial Golf Tournament began six years ago in anticipation of Air Care's 15th anniversary. It has grown from 60 to 172 golfers to support this critical care transport service.
University Air Care has received accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services (CAMTS), the highest standard by which medical transport services can be measured.
The University Hospital is part of the Health Alliance, an integrated health care delivery system that also includes The Christ Hospital, The St. Luke Hospitals, The Jewish Hospital, The Fort Hamilton Hospital and the physicians of Alliance Primary Care.
