Date: 10/19/2004 Cincinnati--University Air Care will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in November. The only hospital-based air medical transport service based in Greater Cincinnati, University Air Care was established by The University Hospital on November 1, 1984. An anniversary celebration for hospital employees will occur on Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. at The University Hospital. Please call 513-585-7200 to arrange interviews, photos and video of Air Care helicopters and staff, prior to the anniversary event. Media are also invited to attend the anniversary celebration. Air Care was established to provide rapid critical care transport to the community and to assist other heath care providers, including hospitals and EMS providers. When a patient's condition demands critical care during transport, or when distance, inaccessible locations or road conditions prevent timely care and transport, Air Care is there to help. Since its inception, Air Care has completed more than 22,000 patient care flights, and now has a remote base at University Pointe in West Chester to better serve the Butler and Warren county communities. University Air Care has received accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services (CAMTS), the highest standard by which medical transport services can be measured. The University Hospital is part of the Health Alliance, an integrated health care delivery system that also includes The Christ Hospital, The St. Luke Hospitals, The Jewish Hospital, The Fort Hamilton Hospital and the physicians of Alliance Primary Care.
