to Hold Second Annual Health Care Symposium
Cincinnati?The University Hospital and Alliance Medical Transport Staff will hold its second annual Emergency Health Care Symposium, Tuesday, October 5 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Alliance Business Center in Avondale, 3200 Burnet Ave. The symposium is designed to address crucial topics in emergency medical response while giving The University Hospital an opportunity to partner with community based emergency medical respondents.
The eight-hour course will address current trends in emergency care, presented by local and national experts in the field of emergency medicine. The content of the symposium is intended to meet the educational needs of registered nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics and social workers. The program will include emphasis in these areas:
· The importance of communication and collaboration among pre-hospital and hospital health care givers and family members along with documented care for the trauma patient.
· Identification of signs and symptoms of Shaken Baby syndrome.
· Identify obstetric emergencies including umbilical cord prolapse, third trimester bleeding, fetal malpresentation, and maternal blunt abdominal trauma.
· Identify key differences between urban trauma care and combat trauma care and become familiar with key concepts of casualty care including Mobile Field Surgical Team and the Critical Care Aeromedical Transport Team.
· Identify common mechanisms of injury and common pre-hospital considerations for geriatric trauma patients.
