Participants will have the opportunity to see new technology available for collecting and preserving evidence. By taking all six of the sexual assault nurse examiner classes, all of the requirements for the 40 hours of didactic training needed to apply for certification, as a SANE nurse will be met. In addition to covering the requirements of the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN), the class will offer R.N.s contact hours. Social worker contact hours are in the process of approval. SANEs who have completed a class within the past two years can attend individual days as refresher courses and get contact hours.

The class outline will follow the guidelines from the Ohio Chapter of IAFN. The manuals were written by members of the Ohio IAFN and sponsored by The Ohio Attorney General's Office Grant. Participants will network with people from the states of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana to receive information about starting SART/SANE programs.
