Barrett Cancer Center, UC Cancer Programs and UC Medical Center Offer Lung Cancer Symposium for Physicians, Nurses, Health Care Providers

The University Hospital's Barrett Cancer Center Hematology/Oncology Division and The University of Cincinnati Medical Center will present the third annual Lung Cancer Symposium June 14, 7 a.m. - 2: 15 p.m. at the Kingsgate Conference Center on the UC College of Medicine campus. The symposium will cover the most up-to-date methods of screening and therapies for lung cancer and mesothelioma. The intended audience is pulmonologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, thoracic surgeons, oncology nurses and all other health care professionals caring for lung cancer patients. Dr. Abdul Jazieh, Interim Director of the Barrett Cancer Center Hematology/Oncology Division, chairs a committee of 10 members who participate in securing national speakers. Speakers and topics include: Advances in the Diagnostic Methods for Lung Cancer Stephen Lam, M.D. University of British Columbia, Vancouver Role of Surgery in Lung Cancer Scott Swanson, M.D. Mount Sinai Medical Center, NYC Radiation Therapy in Lung Cancer Julian Rosenman, M.D. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Targeted Therapy of Lung Cancer Anthony Tolcher, M.D. Cancer Therapy and Research Center, San Antonio, TX Lung Cancer Presentations at ASCO 2003 Lawrence Einhorn, M.D. Indiana University, Indianapolis, IN Treatment of Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma W. Roy Smythe, M.D. MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX Treatment of Small Cell Lung Cancer John Eckardt, M.D. The Center for Cancer Care & Research, St. Louis, MO This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essentials and Standards of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), through the sponsorship of The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The University of Cincinnati designates this educational activity for a maximum of 4.5 credits of Category 1 toward the AMA Physician?s Recognition Award. The Ohio Board of Nursing has also approved this program for 6.3 contact hours. Registration fee is $20 if you register by June 10, or $35 after June 10. Payments can be made with check or credit card. University of Cincinnati employees receive complementary admission. However, registration is required.
