Cincinnati - Women are notorious for putting others before themselves. Finding time to take preventative measures for their health often takes the backseat to raising families, fostering careers or devoting time and energy to causes they are passionate about. But did you know that one of eight women will develop breast cancer during her life? Don't become a statistic.

At The Jewish Hospital, we know that early detection of breast cancer dramatically improves survival rates. Schedule an appointment to have your mammogram at a location convenient to your home or workplace on The Jewish Hospital Mobile Mammography Van. It only takes 15 minutes or less. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 513-686-3300. Most appointment times are between 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

The Jewish Hospital mobile mammography vans:

  • are staffed by female technologists board-certified in mammography and board-certified radiologists, experienced in the interpretation of mammograms
  • are equipped with full field digital technology, allowing images to be viewed in seconds so the technologist can check for proper positioning, reducing the possibility of coming back for repeat images
  • have dressing rooms that provide absolute privacy
  • and are accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Mammography Quality Standards Acts (MQSA).

The American Cancer Society recommends that women have a mammogram every year starting at age 40. Screening mammograms are usually a covered benefit with most insurance carriers. For best coverage, patients should verify that The Jewish Hospital is an in-network provider with their insurance carrier. For women who are uninsured or underinsured (have high deductibles), financial assistance programs are available. Call 513-686-3310 for more information.

All mammograms are read by the expert radiologists of Professional Radiology Inc. And, because a second look can mean a second chance, all of our mammograms are double-checked by the R2 ImageChecker, a computer aided detection system that detects 23.4 percent more breast cancer than mammography alone. Both the patient and her physician receive a copy of the results.

The Jewish Hospital has been providing mammography services for more than 20 years and screens more women in the Tristate than any other hospital or imaging center. The Jewish Hospital Mobile Mammography Program was established in 1987 and performs more than a third of the hospital's total screening mammograms every year.

The Jewish Hospital is an acute care hospital located in Cincinnati's northeast suburbs. It was established in 1850 as the first Jewish hospital in the United States and is part of the Health Alliance, an integrated health care delivery system.
