West Chester Hospital Names New VP of Patient Care, CNO

Date: 2-12-2010West Chester - West Chester Hospital has named Cyndi Traficant, RN, Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer. Traficant joined the West Chester Medical Center leadership team in August 2008 as the director of perioperative services, and has provided leadership to the inpatient nursing units and nursing administration since November.
"Cyndi has been instrumental in developing and growing our hospital's surgical services," says Carol King, senior vice president, West Chester Medical Center. "She came to West Chester with a vast amount of experience in hospital operations and executive leadership."
As the chief nursing officer, she will be responsible for all patient care services.
"Along with the rest of the senior leadership team, my goal is to continue the focused growth of both the perioperative area and the inpatient units," says Traficant.
Traficant's extensive leadership and clinical experience includes merging a physician-owned hospital with a community hospital joint venture; a system-wide executive role with clinical responsibility for 14 hospitals in five states; and service line development for vascular surgical services. Her background includes more than 17 years of various nursing leadership roles in the intensive care unit, emergency department and Cardiac Cath Lab. Previously, she was the administrative director of the Institute for Orthopaedic Surgery in Lima, Ohio, and prior to that she held the role of senior vice president of operations and chief nursing officer at SCCI Health Systems in Dallas, Texas.
Traficant is a member of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses, and holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Northwestern Ohio (Lima) and an associate's degree in nursing from Lima Technical College.
