Director of Cardiac Services Named at The University Hospital

Cincinnati--Lynne Wagoner, M.D. has been named director of cardiac services at The University Hospital. Dr. Wagoner, a nationally known cardiologist specializing in heart failure and cardiac transplantation cardiology, is also the medical director for heart failure and transplantation and director for the Cardiopulmonary Exercise Laboratory at The University Hospital. Dr. Wagoner's responsibilities include strategic planning for all cardiac services, development of performance improvement programs, resource utilization, and marketing of cardiac services at The University Hospital. Dr. Wagoner is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease and is a fellow in the American College of Cardiology. She is an associate professor of medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She has been in clinical practice for eight years and has been published in numerous medical journals. Her research in the area of genetic variants in heart failure has the potential of dramatically increasing our understanding of how certain drugs work in heart failure. Wagoner's research interests include novel heart failure therapies such as bi-ventricular pacemakers, intra-cardiac defibrillators, traditional heart failure therapies, cardiac transplantation, and the causes and treatment of heart disease in women. Dr. Wagoner graduated from East Carolina School of Medicine, where she also completed a residency in internal medicine. She completed a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Utah. She is a member of the Heart Failure Society of America, the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Transplantation.
