Good Housekeeping Magazine named University Hospital's Heart Failure & Transplant Center one of the top 44 cardiac centers in the U.S. for women. Lynne E. Wagoner, M.D., director of cardiac services at The University Hospital, was named a top doctor. The rankings are found in the February 2004 issue, and were compiled by Good Housekeeping and Castle Connolly, which publishes the popular guide America's Best Doctors. According to Good Housekeeping, "A research team identified the 'best of the best' heart centers all over the country, noting the program's specialties and listing an exceptional practitioner at each center." The University Hospital Heart Failure and Transplant Center is the area's only heart transplant center, having performed more than 300 transplants since its inception in 1984. Dr. Wagoner, a nationally known cardiologist specializing in heart failure and cardiac transplantation cardiology, is also the medical director for heart failure and transplantation and Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program at The University of Cincinnati. Dr. Wagoner is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease and is a fellow in the American College of Cardiology. She is an associate professor of medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She has been in clinical practice for nine years and has been published in numerous medical journals. She is the director of clinical trials for the UC Heart and Vascular Center. Dr. Wagoner graduated from East Carolina School of Medicine, where she also completed a residency in internal medicine.
