Drake Center Hosts Job Fair

Date: 10/02/2008CINCINNATI - In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Drake Center will be hosting a disabilities employment fair Oct. 2, from 9-11:30 a.m. in the Innovation Center at Drake, 151 W. Galbraith Road, in Hartwell. Individuals with disabilities will have the opportunity to meet with potential employers from companies such as Drake Center, PNC Bank, Convergys, Express Personal, Kroger and Hyatt Regency.
"National Disability Month is a way to recognize the millions of people that have disabilities and an opportunity for us to reflect on what we can do to help and show our support," said Chris Kennedy, Health Alliance Coordinator for Disabilities Services.
Drake Center provides services to many patients who have acquired a disability after an accident or injury and recognizes the life changing impact this can have on the patient and their family. The Health Alliance has received numerous awards over the last few years for their efforts in hiring associates with disabilities including a recent award presented by Governor Strickland for their 2008 "Best Practices" in employing individuals with disabilities as well as national recognition in 2005 when they were awarded Employer of the Year by The Association for Persons in Supported Employment.

About National Disability Employment Awareness Month: Since 1945 Congress has designated every October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Their goal is to increase the public's awareness of people with disabilities and recognize their skills and contributions in the workforce. The Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) organizes various national programs and events during this month to address the barriers people with disabilities face when trying to find jobs and works with businesses to overcome these barriers.
