West Chester Medical Center names Director of Emergency Services

West Chester-West Chester Medical Center has named Regina Shupe BSN, RN, CEN, Director of Emergency Services. This position is responsible for coordinating nursing, medical, administrative, emergency medical service (EMS), and ancillary patient care services in the emergency department.

Shupe has spent her career serving those in greatest need of medical help, with various positions in emergency, trauma and intensive care departments. Shupe was previously an emergency department (ED) manager for Mercy Health Partners, where she managed a 30-bed ED. She led that department to improve patient satisfaction scores by almost 90 percent, successfully passed three Joint Commission surveys, and managed a $2.7 million expansion project.

A resident of Colerain Township, Shupe earned her associate's degree in nursing from the University of Cincinnati and her bachelor's degree in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, Ind. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in nursing administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. Shupe is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association, the Greater Cincinnati Nurse Executives and Sigma Theta Tau International, and holds numerous certifications including: registered nurse; certified emergency nurse; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification; and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

West Chester Medical Center, part of the Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, is a new 160-bed hospital being built in West Chester, Ohio. Conveniently located on the University Pointe campus and easily accessible via I-75, it will blend the best in medicine, technology and service in a safe, healing environment. West Chester Medical Center will offer a 28-bed emergency department, and inpatient and outpatient surgical, imaging and treatment services. The hospital will open in early 2009.
