The emergency department at The University Hospital, in cooperation with the SANE program, is committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to the survivors of rape.
With the use of the newest technology and education, The University Hospital can provide evidence to law enforcement and prosecutors to assist in the arrest and prosecution of rapists in our community.

Provide professional, compassionate and timely collection of forensic evidence for adult survivors of sexual assault in all communities. Avoid further trauma to all sexual assault victims in the health care environment. Foster growth and development of similar programs by assisting with education and/or providing consultative services.
A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner is a registered nurse who has been specially trained to provide comprehensive care to the sexual assault survivor, demonstrates competency in conducting a forensic examination and collection of evidence, and has the ability to be an expert witness.
